One in ten people in the UK are thought to suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which is characterised by a collection of symptoms including abdominal pain & bloating and general bowel problems. IBS can have a severe impact on wellbeing and stress levels, which in turn can exacerbate symptoms.
The NHS state on their website “It is estimated that 3 out of 4 people with IBS will have at least one bout of depression, and just over half will develop generalised anxiety disorder (a condition that can cause overwhelming feelings of anxiety, fear and dread).”
It is no wonder that IBS is often a contributer to staff absence and loss in productivity, but can often be greatly moderated by simple diet & lifestyle changes.
